This is just my
personal experience, and I am sure that each
person is different. These are just what has
worked and not worked for me.
The following
things are important.
- an open mind,
and a willingness to accept that you may have
had an incorrect understanding of a scripture
or an idea. Change is inevitable.
- Get a
spiritual mentor, an older one and someone
your own age.
- Don't try to
interpret scripture on your own, speak to
someone about it.
- Prayer,
something that I am working on.
- Ask stupid
questions, God's Word always makes logical
sense to God, so if it makes no sense to you,
then try to make sure that you speak to people
about it, especially God.
- Realize that
you will never understand everything.
- Challenge the
"Sunday School" ideas that you have
formed in your mind, ideas that you
interpreted for yourself as you grew up and
came to believe. (This is of course no
fault on the Sunday school teachers
part:-) The devil
is a deceiver.
